Fifth series of the national currency banknotes – “Best New Banknote Series 2023”
New banknotes in the denominations of 200, 500 and 1000 Som were put into circulation by the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic on May 10, 2023, opening a new, 5th series of the national currency.
The fifth series of the national currency banknotes, represented by the denominations of 200, 500 and 1000 Som of the year 2023, became the winner of the regional competition “Banknote of The Year” in the nomination “Best New Series of Banknotes – 2023” the international conference “The High Security Printing Asia”, in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The regional award “Best Banknote Series of The Year” recognizes outstanding achievements in the field of design and use of state of art security elements in the context of the artistic design of banknotes. The main criterion to evaluate the banknotes is an effective combination of external design and a high level of technical sophistication and security of banknotes. Special attention is paid to reflected cultural heritage, as well as relevant overall design and symbols of the issuing country.
