Information statement about replacement of the current banknotes of the national currency - tenge
The National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan additionally informs about termination of the banknotes circulation with the face value KZT 2000, 5000, 10000 of the 2006-year specimen on October 3, 2016. Up to the indicated date, these banknotes are lawful payment instrument and are used for payments and bank transactions throughout the Republic of Kazakhstan without any restrictions.
These banknotes can be exchanged in all branches of the National Bank without waiting for the termination date of their circulation.
Then within 12 months – from October 4, 2016 to October 3, 2017 inclusive – these banknotes shall be exchanged in any regulated bank.
In all branches of the National Bank of the RK the banknotes with the face value KZT 2000, 5000 and 10000 of the 2006-year specimen will be accepted for exchange up to October 3, 2020, in addition, free of charge without charging the fee or the payment for exchange.

In accordance with the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on administrative offences, a refusal to accept the banknotes entails a penalty on small businesses or non-commercial organizations for five, on medium businesses – for ten, on large businesses — for twenty-five monthly calculation indices.
The refusal of the banks and the organizations carrying out some types of the banking transactions to accept, to change and to exchange the banknotes entails a penalty for fifty monthly calculation indices.
