ь In accordance with the information, provided by the Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve System of the United States of America, the new 100-dollar banknote will be issued in new design in 2011. After introduction of the new 100-dollar banknote, old pattern banknotes may not be changed for new ones.

Predominantly green, but in some spaces light-blue background of the banknote is sprinkled with copper, golden and blue colors. Special attention is attracted by two details - a blue 3-D Security Ribbon and the image of a bell in the inkwell of copper color on the front of the note.

Banknote design is added with the image of a pen and quotation from the Declaration of Independence. Selection of the symbolic features for renewal of the banknote was not accidental, as with the help of writing sets, including pen and ink-pot, founders of the American state made the US Declaration of Independence and the bell is a symbol of freedom in the United States and one of landmarks of Philadelphia (motherland of Benjamin Franklin).

In comparison with the 100-dollar banknote of 2006 issue, position of signatures and many design elements of the new banknote are very different:

· No oval frame around the portrait of Benjamin Franklin.

· The portrait is larger and adjusted to the concept of updated series of American currency.

· Signature of the Head of the US Treasury Department is moved to the left side and placed under the signature of the US Treasury Department Secretary Rosie Rios.

· Issue year is moved to the right side of the banknote close to bright-copper specification of the banknote nominal value.

· Signature «оne hundred dollars» is moved to the right upper part of the banknote.

· The reverse of the new banknote depicts the rear of Independence Hall, as opposed to main front entrance which was shown on the reverse of the previous series, but clock on the palace tower remains unchanged.

· The right of the Independence Hall, there is a three-dimensional large signature “100” of a bright-golden color, which will enable people with poor vision to determine what the banknote nominal value is.

More detailed information about protective elements of the100-dollar banknote is provided on the web-site of the Engraving and Press Bureau of the Federal Reserve System of the United States of America www.newmoney.gov
