The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic informs about the increasingly frequent cases of detection of false banknotes in denomination of 200 KGS of III issue (old type) at the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.

To distinguish a genuine banknote from counterfeit one, its best to compare the suspected banknote to one in the same series, in the authenticity of which you have no doubt. But one should not trust for the presence of one evidence; you need to check certain security features, such as:

1. Look at the light for a watermark dark portrait of Alykul Osmonov and light figures “200”.

2. Check at the light for the presence of microprinting “200 KGS” in the security thread.

3. Pay attention to the rectangle located in the lower right corner of the banknote. By turning the banknote the figures in denomination “200” under the ornament become visible.

4. See reverse side of the banknote. At an acute angle of view becomes visible a golden foil strip with figure denomination “200” and ornament.

If you have a dubious banknote, it should be delivered to the closest investigation department of the State Financial Police Service or the National Bank, where experts will carry out examination of the authenticity of banknotes. Do not try to sell the dubious banknote since not only production but also dissemination of counterfeit banknotes is punishable by the law.

In accordance with Article 198 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic - production, storage or sale of counterfeit banknotes shall be punished by imprisonment for a term of three to five years with confiscation of property. The same acts committed on a large scale and by group of persons shall be punished by imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years, with confiscation of property.

Admission for expertise of dubious national banknotes of the Kyrgyz Republic is produced by the National Bank from Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm. The examination fee will not be charged. Examination period is no more than 5 working days.

NBKR informs that on October 13 there was a meeting held between Asankozhoeva Z.M, the Chairman of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic and the World Bank Country Manager, Mr. Alex Kremer. They discussed the parameters of the project ”Development of the Financial Sector”.
