NBKR: Despite foreign and domestic problems in recent years, public confidence in the national currency is maintained and strengthened. 

The national currency fluctuates under the influence of many factors, both external and internal. External factors are the trade terms of goods and services, cash transfers, capital flows, etc. 

Over the past five years, the average current account of balance-of-payments deficit amounted to 352.4 million U.S. dollars. This means that receipts from export of goods and services and migrant remittances do not fully cover the import of goods and services and income payments to non-residents. Apart from remittances the current account deficit is financed by attraction of foreign investment and governmental external debt. For many years the balance of capital account and balance-of-payments financial transactions remains positive and for the past five years it averages to 542.0 million USD thus reflecting a net inflow of capital into the country. Meanwhile, a significant capital outflow is not observed. 

One of the domestic indicators of stability of the KG som is public confidence in the national currency, which can be measured by the growth of deposits. Despite foreign and domestic problems in recent years, public confidence in the national currency is maintained and strengthened. The volume of deposits in the national currency from January 1st to July 1st of 2012 has grown to 20.3 per cent; in 2011 compared to 2010 the increase was 18.2 per cent. 

Together with the above factors, monetary policy of the National Bank has a stabilizing influence on the rate of KG som.
